Clifton Highlands Golf Course
About
Clifton Highlands Golf Club, just north of Prescott, enjoys a scenic location overlooking the St. Croix River Valley. The club offers a championship 18-hole course as well as a par-3 course. Dr. Gordon Emerson, Wisconsin's most prolific course designer, designed the Championship Course. He considered it some of his best work. The golf course has enough diversity to appeal to both low and high handicappers. The layout is fairly tight with mature trees framing many of the holes. The undulating greens and fairways are meticulously maintained. A combination of water and sand comes into play, providing a fair amount of challenges without being too punishing. In addition to the 27 holes, Clifton Highlands G.C. also has a driving range and practice greens that are adjacent to the first tees of both golf courses.

A public course with a private feel
Nice layout in beautiful shape
A pleasure to play this magnificently manicured golf course .
Nice but little course etiquette would be nice.
Course was in great shape. Pretty straight forward last 5 holes are by far the best. BUT was disappointed in the fact at 9am they are mowing and weed trimming while you play. I mean putting and 2 weed eaters going at it 20 feet away. Next tee box I’m on the blue tee box next box up 10feet away guy on the lawn more just kept going. Wanted to top it and try to knock him off of it.
Wow
Great course, better staff. Rained out our back 9 and we got more than we bargained for as far as vouchers. Great course, great staff. I’ll definitely frequent this course.
Great course
The course was in great shape. The greens were in perfect condition and double rolled. They are the most challenging part of this course. The fairways are super easy to hit and not very challenging until 14-18. The only downfall are the amenities. They just don't match the course and need some work. They could also use a new fleet of carts. Otherwise a fun course.
Better than I remembered
Good course layout and mix of holes. Challenging greens. Seems tougher than its course rating and slope. Conditions were great. Better than most other courses in the area. Nice clubhouse and staff.
Great Value
Great value, $22 with cart. The greens are always in great condition.
Very Nice course for all skill levels
Course in nice shape for such late spring. Bunkers were dry and raked, greens had no winter kill and fairways greening up evenly.
Pace of play was perfect with no waiting at tee box.
Back nine had more picturesque holes with #17 and #18 perfect for finishing holes.
Overall very nice golf experience.
Ready to go
Course is in great shape. Putting is VERY challenging so pay attention!!! Pin placements are always difficult
Great layout,severe greens!
The venue has a beautiful scenic layout and is challenging. The greens had extreme slopes for their speed and quite penal. Might have been the hole placements that day.
I liked everything else about the course and quite nicely maintained! The pro shop was excellent and very helpful ! Thanks
Greens Challenging
The pace of play was very slow. There was no ranger to stop a member in front of us from playing two balls. The greens were very challenging to the point of almost seeming unfair to most approach shots.
Tough greens
Course was in good condition staff (Kyle) was super based on my interaction with him alone I would play again
Greens were tough and fun to play course layout was nice.
The course was in pretty good shape is always fun to play. Got stuck behind a two some who was behind a four some. The four some let the two play through which left us behind the four some. We had a single behind us so we were waiting a lot. The single behind us startin hitting into us and really pushing us so that took away for the enjoyment of the round but what can you do. I will definitely continue playing this course.
Well Maintained
One of my favorite tracks.
Well maintained and worth every penny - and then some.
Having hit a few different courses over the last week, I find myself appreciating CH even more.
Tight grooming from tee to cup.
Only down-side is the rediculously slow golf carts.
Seriously, they are so slow, you almost feel like someone is punking you or something...
Tough pin placements
We went into the clubhouse after our round to comment on the overly difficult pin placements on more than half the holes and the attendant told us their grounds crew likes to do that on purpose on the weekends. I may never play this course again. Otherwise it was in great condition, but it is a challenging course even without tough pin placements.
