Glen Erin Golf Club
About
Glen Erin Golf Club is an homage to the strong Irish heritage of Janesville, Glen Erin, which literally mean "Ireland's Valley," sprawls across lush, emerald green hills that are accentuated with a prominent vale that runs throughout the course. The course has a distinctly Irish character with wide, undulating fairways and immense greens that are flanked with pot bunkers. Sandy waste areas and ribbons of native fescue serve as the outer rough. The elevation changes on the golf course range from subtle to dramatic. Golfers should be prepared for a fair amount of uneven lies as well as some forced carries. Glen Erin Golf Club finishes memorably with a long par 5 that offers a risk-reward opportunity. The double-tiered green is well guarded but with good placement and a little bit of luck, a birdie is definitely possible.

One of the best around
I have played Glen Erin several times and I always find it to be challenging and very rewarding . Great course friendly people
Always in the best of shape .
I will return again and again....
great layout. complex greens .pleasing to the eye
love this course. great blend of holes both in style and level of difficulty. you had better pay attention to pin location as greens are complex. always feel this course is a fair, ineresting, enjoyable experience.
Tough Links Course
Deep traps, rough that swallows up your ball, and tiered sloping greens make this course a real challenge. We played in the midst of a drought, so were able to go a long way down the fairways. But stopping the ball on these greens was not easy, and the tiers and slope made them especially tough. Many holes had narrow spaces to fly your drive as well. The course was very well maintained, everyone was friendly, and the pace of play was fine, especially considering we played on Labor Day. Playing this course for the first time presented us with plenty of challenges. The last hole is a long par 5, a very difficult ending hole. I plan to return soon.
A course with excellent character
Glen Erin is a fun course to play. It can be difficult (and slow) if you or the groups in front of you have trouble keeping the ball on the short grass. The course is mostly open, with long grasses and bunkering providing most of the hazards. There were a few holes with tree lining, but for the most part the course feels like an "Irish" course. The greens have multiple tiers to each green, requiring the ball to be placed in the correct position to have success on the greens. The four sets of tees will allow both short hitters and long hitters to appropriately challenge themselves. It's a nice looking course, and was in good shape despite a lot of play.
A taste of Ireland
This isn't the first time I've visited this course. It is absolutely one of the best courses I play each year. I could have done without the clowns playing in front of us? Other than that, the course was once again in great shape, food was phenomenal, and its a great challenge for the average player.
Excellent value for the product offered.
This course has some nice links features such as native grasses outside the rough and above fairway bunkers. Large greens with a fair amount of undulation and some tiering. Bunker sand has a good consistency and pretty uniform depth. Flagsticks are short (about 4') giving a Scottish flavor.
tough big greens
This is a mostly links style course with a few holes on the back nine that were tight with woods that requires accurate shots. First time playing glenn erin, had a blast. Alot of the greens were huge with different tiers which can make for some long hard putts. Went on a Thursday around noon. Was wide open til about hole 13 or 14 then play slowed a little. Played 18 holes in 4 hours. Will certainly go back.
Great greens.
Great challenge for moderate players but fair. Have played the course a few times before. Always a great golf experience.Every 10-20 handicap should play this course. Not sure about the "short" pins but they do add to the experience.
Tough greens
This was an enjoyable Saturday morning of golf. Course was in great shape, greens ran true and it was challenging. You need to keep the ball in play and on the right side of the small flags!
interesting and somewhat challenging
With all the rain recently, the fairways were quiet hard, and the greens would not hold. apparently the course gets a lot of play because the it took 4-3/4 hours for TWO players. staff was ALL business, and not very friendly. I would recommend this course if nothing else was available. Sorry, just being honest...
Good conditions, challenging course.
Enjoy first trip around course. Played with a couple of employees and they helped with where to play to. Nice
club house, good range.
A Southern Wisconsin Must Play
Really, two distinctly different courses. The front nine has a real "linksy" feel and the back is more of a woodlands-type course with tight driving holes. Challenging and fun. What keeps it from being a five star course is some of the green conditions and the staff. Save for the bartenders, the staff are generally unfriendly, almost to the point of being unprofessional.
Great Glen! - could be mistaken for Erin Hills
I have played this course before and enjoy returning again & again.
The course has been well maintained from day 1 & continues to be.
The tee selection gives good variety for different skill levels but the wind always makes it a fun challenge. Greens have some shape to them but roll true & fast.
The style of the bunkers and the small flags create a genuine links feel and as you walk round this corner of Janesville you feel transported to golf in its purest form.
Enjoy!
This course has great features a nice links and wooded course combined
The people behind the desk, bar, starter and the ranger were all friendly and very helpful.
played only 8 holes due to slow play
Played 7 holes and caught up to high school tournament;
took 25 minutes to play #8...........so disappointed, we just left!
Course should close play to public if they are going to host
high school tournaments! Will NOT golf Glen Erin again.
In very good condition.
Course was in very good condition. Greens were kind of fast considering that it had recently rained.
Great Shape!
We have played this course several times. It is in the best shape I can remember. Greens were smooth with a nice speed to them. A little winter kill in a couple areas, but every course in WI has some of that this time of year. Fairways were great. Staff could not have been nicer. It wasn't too busy, but it had several groups on the course. We played in just under 3.5 hours. Great pace.
Great day at Glen Erin!
Course is in wonderful shape! My wife and I had a great time. No birdies, but the pars were plentiful. Thanks!
The course was in great shape for this time of year.
Like the golf course, although it is somewhat wide open.
A Hidden Gem!
We played here on a late fall day after finding this course on golf now.com . We were extremely impressed by the quality layout, length, challenge, and condition of the course. The staff person in the pro shop was happy to have us and we were happy to have found this hidden gem. We will definately be back in the summer when the course will be extremely challenging with all the leaves on the tree's and the rough's alive and green.
