Lake Wisconsin Country Club
About
Lake Wisconsin Country Club is located on the outskirts of Prairie du Sac, just a 30-minute drive from both Madison and the Wisconsin Dells. The golf course is quite short at 5,881 yards, which makes it pleasantly walkable, but it is certainly not an easy course. The front nine plays across rolling hills while the back nine is centered upon the manmade Lake Wisconsin. The bunkering throughout the golf course is minimal, but it is strategic and fair. The small, fast greens have enough undulations to give them some character but they are not overly difficult though the tricky doglegs shaped by stands of mature trees will test your accuracy. The par-3 12th hole is the signature thanks to a challenging island tee. Lake Wisconsin Country Club's 16th hole also has a memorable tee shot between two towering oak trees followed by a short iron to a well guarded green that backs onto the Wisconsin River.

Reviews
Great course.
Love this course. Fairways are wide open, par 5s are kept to a minimum, you can actually play it in less than 4 hours if people are moving along. Refreshingly the back nine is easier than the front.
Great Course, Well kept, challenging
This is truly one of my favorite courses to play in the area. Lake Wisco forces a player to use all the clubs in their bag. Beautiful scenery and a golfing challenge, yet it is still fun to play if you are an over 20 handicapper.
Good condition but no player management made for a slow round.
No Rangers. There were 3 foursomes stacked in front of me ( a single) with no one in front of them and no one behind me. Ran into a slow group making everyone wait on each shot.
Course is fine, staff is awful--the worst I've seen, rental clubs were 50 years old
On vacation we had to rent clubs. I've never seen such antiquated clubs. Small head metals, no sand iron, cheapest shafts I've ever seen, yet they actually charged for the clubs use. When I inquired with the staff, the staff couldn't have cared less. My wife said "I will never go back to that course, no matter what". And the course is in her hometown, which we visit often. Thanks for asking.
Nice average course. Mildly challenging.
Good close to home course but not a destination course. Location next to Lake Wisconsin gives it some charm. Too many par 3's on back nine. Nice amenities.
Great old course and a good value.
Great old golf course and a good value. Lots of trees, tight fairways and postage stamp greens. The greens were really nice and fast. Be prepared to play the breaks! Several holes along Lake Wisconsin are a treat.
Nice Setting
This is a great place to work on your short game, and on accuracy. It's a short course with 6 par 3's, but the course has its challenges. You have to hit over water a few times. I managed to stay out of most hazards. I found the course well maintained, and the greens easy to read. There's not a lot hills. The staff was friendly- they happily returned 2 clubs that I had lost on the course. The scenery along the dam and river was a plus.
shorter course but very challenging
this is a shorter course overall but offers plenty of challenges to golfers of any skill level. it is necessary to be very accurate off the tee for the majority of the holes and some water comes into play, especially when the wind is blowing. many of the greens are undulating and at times roll very quick. putting is a challenge on most of the greens.
Great course would highly recommend
great short course, fairways and roughs are always in great shape, especially when we played late fall the leaves from trees in the rough pretty much cleaned up. Played the course several times this year and at a very nice pace.
