Mayville Golf Club
About
Mayville Golf Club is a public course that has been a local favorite since opening in 1931. It originally opened as a nine-hole course but has expanded to a full 18 over the years though it is still a manageable length for beginners and high handicappers. The gently rolling terrain provides some subtle but tricky contours. The bunkering is sparse but carefully placed to complement the natural undulation of the land. The golf course has a good mix of holes that are tree-lined and others that are wide-open. There are a few small ponds that come into play on the front nine while several holes on the back nine run alongside a meandering stream. There are plenty of challenges in store but overall it is a player-friendly course. Mayville G.C. is also one of the better golf values in the area.

A Soggy Mess
Best to avoid this course if the area has experienced a lot of recent rain. Many of the holes run parallel to the local river which causes drainage problems. After playing 18, I asked for a discount on future play due to poor conditions. The response was a flat no because "the course is playable." I beg to differ given that I had to use a ball retriever in one of the fairways to fish my ball out of a small pond. The wives were also unhappy with the mud splatters over their clothes. Oh well.
There are many scenic holes on this course
This course is maintained in most locations. The first seven holes are not too scenic and appear to be in a valley. The remaining 11 holes are very nice and are located in a very pretty setting, especially in fall. Nice course for the money.
Course is always a good challenge, tricky greens, good fun!
Greens were in good shape- except for the ones that were plugged already-little ruff !
green gtreat shape nice short par 4's tree lined old fairways
nice paced people friendly, well maintained course, greens good shape
Course has nice layout. Front nine fairly open. Back nine more wooded.
The greens were in great condition. Some fairways were a little rough with golf cart ruts in wet areas. Will take a little time to repair. Enjoyed the day in spite of a little rain when we first started. The 10 hole is a beautiful downhill with a pond in driving distance. (lost one ball in pond). The 9th hole has a great view with an elevated green. Very nice. The par 3s on back nine are a little long. The green are small but well maintained. Nice course, will be back.
Wet fairways and excellent greens
The course is located on the rolling hills of Dodge County. These geographical features and the amount of rain so far this spring has effected the conditions of the fairways. There were many deep tire tracks in the wettest areas and even some sand hazards that turned into water hazards. I was shocked that they would let us play the course in the shape that it was in; it will take all summer to repair some of the damage caused by the gas powered carts. The greens were in great shape and the pin locations were challenging. The views are amazing and the sounds of nature were beautiful. If dried out Mayville is a jewel in Dodge County.
greens are very challenging.
Well maintained course and super nice staff. Lots of different holes. Long par fives and par 3s.
the course will challenge you
