Mayville Golf Club
About
Mayville Golf Club is a public course that has been a local favorite since opening in 1931. It originally opened as a nine-hole course but has expanded to a full 18 over the years though it is still a manageable length for beginners and high handicappers. The gently rolling terrain provides some subtle but tricky contours. The bunkering is sparse but carefully placed to complement the natural undulation of the land. The golf course has a good mix of holes that are tree-lined and others that are wide-open. There are a few small ponds that come into play on the front nine while several holes on the back nine run alongside a meandering stream. There are plenty of challenges in store but overall it is a player-friendly course. Mayville G.C. is also one of the better golf values in the area.

Huge Upcharge for a non-playing cart rider
My husband and I recently visited Mayville golf course and had prepaid for a cart and 18 holes greens fees for my husband who was playing solo. When he checked in, he told them that his nonplaying wife would be riding along. They charged an additional $20 fee for me to occupy an empty seat in the paid for cart. Same day they had a man take his nonplaying son to ride along and occupied the same empty seat in his cart and paid nothing. There are too many beautiful courses in the area that do not charge an additional rider fee for someone who is not playing golf... not one dollar let alone $20. We will skip Mayville course and continue to patronize Beaver Dam Country Club, Rolling Meadows, Fox Lake and Horicon all of which are beautiful and do not charge. In fact, Fox Lake and Beaver Dam Country Club have gorgeous Lake Views on the courses.
First Time
This was our first time playing this course. We went because they are now a part of Golf Now. It was a challenging course with fast greens. Very friendly staff and we will be returning.
Pleasantly surprised
Trying a new course, you don't know what to expect. This one definitely exceeded expectations. Multiple times me and my father commented to each how much we enjoyed the course. We will be back.
Well worth it !
This course was in fantastic shape . It’s a shorter course (6100+ yds.from the tips) . Besides your putter be ready to play all of the other 13 clubs in your bag . Will definitely play again. The staff was great ! Do yourself a favor and play this course !!!
Exceeded expectations
Played Mayville Golf Course in some cold weather last Friday, and really liked the layout. On paper it is on the easy side, 5915 yards from the whites with rating of 68.3/116, but it plays more challenging than that The course is fairly tight in many places with some water hazards and lots of trees. The greens are challenging and fun, with significant slopes that allow a variety of pin placement options. The greens were true, not very fast as is typical of early May; I would expect they get faster in the summer. The course has some elevation changes. Fairways were in great shape, very lush for this time of year. Their non-golf operations were a bit limited at this point so hard to evaluate that. Overall I found this course to be an excellent value and a lot of fun, look forward to playing it again.
Frustrating Greens
I've played this course a handful of times in my lifetime. Haven't played too recently, but all I can remember from my last round was how frustrating the greens were. Every hole they played the same - small, round greens and all of them rolling off at the edges. Approaches and chips were almost impossible to keep on the green. Putting was also ridiculous because it felt like every green was on an extreme slant one direction or another. Love the area, but one of my least favorite Wisconsin courses.
Bad greens
Greens are small and most are built on a mound that are sloped putting is a impossible. Not mention course is along river the skeets are terrible.

Greens were nice and very fast.
No beverage cart on a holiday weekend.
Overall nice round and great value using a "hot" tee time.
Really enjoy playing Mayville.
Really enjoy playing Mayville. Always accommodating. Nice course.
Mayville is a a great little fun track. Excellent fast greens (don't be above the hole!) and overall great condition. Hole #13 has some water damage in the fairway that really doesn't affect a "fair" drive from the forward tees. Favorite holes? #5, 9 and 10. Scenic clubhouse and excellent grill food after the round. An excellent value for those willing to do a short road trip.
Wet year
I will try this course next year but not this year anymore! Mother Nature has made Wisconsin very wet this year and hit this course extremely harsh! Some fairways closed, extremely over run conditions as far as being maintained. I hit a ball from a par three just off the green and could not find the ball, it was plugged so bad. Then to add insult to injury, some people have drove their carts around this green and made huge ruts to compound already what this poor course has had to endure! In closing I would like to say, I believe on an average year it is a nice course. Just not this year! When I was there, it was being run by very nice staff!
Wet play
I realize we got alot of rain but more then 1/2 the coarse was wet play. Lots of cutting going on during play and they would stop feet away from you but kept the motor running. Clumps of mowed grass behind some greens.
Now I remember....
Now I remember the thing that drove me nuts about this course. Layout is beautiful. Pin placements insane. Greens super fast. Be prepared for a potential 3-putt on every hole. Brutal pin placements.
I think I had one potentially straight putt in 18 holes even with strategic approaches.
Play any time
didn't paly that day but have played month before and it was great
