Geneva National Golf Club boasts three championship courses, each with a notable designer: Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, and Lee Trevino. All three courses sit along the shores of Lake Como and were carved from lush, rolling countryside. The Gary Player Course, along with the Palmer Course, provides the greatest challenges and also some of the best scenery. Water hazards come into play on 12 holes in the form of wandering streams and large lakes. One of the most memorable holes with water is the par-3 16th. There is a lake that wraps almost entirely around the green, giving it the feel and difficulty of an island green. In addition to the water, golfers will also have numerous strategically placed bunkers to contend with. The club is popular with locals but also with visitors since it is only a short drive from metropolitan Chicago and Milwaukee.

Fall golf on Player

Love this track! Favorite of the 3. Today however didn't realize it was cart path only due to the rain. There was no starter to inform us of that. We had early tee and think staff wasn't all "in place" as even the range wasn't set up with ropes and balls to hit so we had to "help"'ourselves from the shed.
Normally this isn't the case here however and just love this golf club. Also no beverage cart seen until the 11th hole and the shed at the turn had music playing but no staff inside to serve even coffee let alone an early morning "pick me up"
None the less I'll be back for sure!

Geneva National Gem

Excellent layout and condition, both fairways and greens. Lots of risk reward shots . Zach thought Palmer course was more challenging requiring more precision whereas Player was a bit more forgiving and straight forward. We will be back to play both courses

Beautiful course

First time here and I’ll be back. If I lived closer I’d be a member. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The course was in perfect condition. The greens were fast and accurate. I love the undulating terrain.

In nice shape - but way too pricey

An empty weekend afternoon tee sheet and several open $50 tee times (weren't even hot deals) on GolfNow convinced us to travel north of the border to get in a round at Geneva National. I had not ventured there in several years so it was nice to get re-acquainted. If you showed up and didn't book via GolfNow they wanted and were charging $75!! I've played all 3 courses many times but have always found their peak season rates to be over the top/overly expensive for what you end up getting.....you're guaranteed to have especially slow wrong tee playing resort players peak season....and even in the early spring season we ran right up on top of some well prior to noon groups at the start of the back nine....we played the front very slowly on purpose in a leisurely 210 (we teed off at 1240 and the group in front of us teed off at Noon) in what ended up to be a futile attempt to have the course to ourselves and not be waiting on every tee box. Out of the 3 courses I tend to enjoy the Player course the most.....it just fits my eye better than the Palmer/Trevino courses. Course was in decent shape but the greens definitely need a good several week grow in....they were highly sanded. Many tee boxes also need some rehab. Paved cart paths are starting to get really bumpy and unkempt. A really sparse pro-shop (likely due to covid) as well as the overall facilities just seem a little tired/rundown so the operation is showing age. Potholes to avoid in the parking lot. Apologies Geneva National....your courses are just not a $100 plus experience anymore.....even on weekdays peak season. $60 weekday to $80 weekend values at best. It was nice to go back at a decent rate....but.for the $100 plus you require peak season .....I can play Spring Valley 4 times and have just as much (or more) fun and much less of drive....and most times wait less on tee boxes. I do recommend play at all 3 courses...they are beautiful and interesting rounds....but definitely aren't worth a c-note.

Great Course for the price, even better at the twilight rate.

As a local, the 150 is a little steep for me at the daily rate. However, the 50/55 dollar twilight rate is a helluva value. This course is country club level with its maintenance. The views from the course/design is impeccable. Greens role true and fast, not a lot of varience in speed from one hole to the next. The clubhouse has good food and an incredible patio that looks out over the lake. If your local, awesome spot for a date or family night out.

Course is awesome, club house is impressive and the food is great.

Country Club experience on a resort golf course

Very fun round with a layout that offers just the right amount of challenges, but easy enough to avoid or get out of trouble. Greens were fast but fair. All staff I encountered were courteous and helpful, from the concierge to the pro shop clerk to the cart girl. Awesome experience. Can't wait to come back and try the other 2 courses.

Great Course!

I’ve played “Players” and “Palmer”, both amazing courses. You won’t be disappointed playing here. Full tee sheet, but still ran at a reasonable pace.

In good shape for this late in the season

Unseasonably warm today so I went up to Lake Geneva to play at Geneva National. The course was still in pretty good shape for November. There were some repairs that were in progress, and they had just aerated and sanded the greens, so putting was difficult. But overall it was a great day to be outside. This course has very beautiful views.

Our Final Day at Geneva National - the Player Course

Our group of 24 was first off at 7:30am on the Player course before we departed for home. It was refreshing to be out there with the mowers and set the pace of play that had been an issue our first 2 rounds at GN. The Player course felt like it had the most character and it was the most evident on the holes that went around the halfway shack/steak house. With holes that provided some risk/reward and some shapely par 5's the Player course provides the most playability for all handicaps. With some nice views of Lake Como as well as some holes winding through some of the neighborhoods there was a nice blend of holes on the Player. One small issue was it looked like the 18th hole has been re-done and the yardage book I purchased was out of date. It made for an interesting finish....
In all Geneva National is a great resort with a great setup if you choose to a group outing since you can stay within walking distance of the clubhouse. There look to be some institutional things that need to be corrected and the value is a little higher than I would expect but our group had a great time.
