Fire Ridge Golf Club
About
Fire Ridge Golf Club in Grafton, Wisconsin is a public course but it boasts the amenities and service of a private country club. It is not as well known as some other courses in the area and might possibly one of the state's best-kept secrets. The golf course stretches to more than 7,000 yards from the tips and was ranked as one of Wisconsin's top 20 toughest courses. Mature trees shape the numerous doglegs and there are also water hazards that come into play throughout Fire Ridge. There is an interesting mix of holes including challenging par 4s, with the most difficult being the 16th. There are no surprises on this tricky hole because it's tough enough on its own. Golfers should aim to keep it in the fairway and place the second shot below the hole, making sure not to miss the green long or else they're be facing a fast downhill chip shot.

Great Late Season Round
Had the course to ourselves for a windy November round. A challenging course made more so BT the cold wind. A great course for a great late season round.
Great Course and Facility
Very nice time was had by all.
Driving range is very nice. Plenty of targets to gauge the swing you brought with you on the day. We played early November, and those that know Wisconsin weather knows upkeep on a course can be challenging this time of year. That was not a problem at Fire Ridge. While not "pristine", the course was in excellent shape. Technically I don't think a course can be categorized as pristine in November in WI. The staff is doing an awesome job in keeping the course ready to go for late season golfers.
Do not hesitate to play, ANY time of year.
Played at better for a lower cost!
It was OK, nothing special! Some greens in rough shape! Pin placements on some holes a very poor choice! I'm not a US open golfer!
This course is an outstanding layout, a very challenging track.
Fireridge is in wonderful condition with the exception of the 3rd green. It appeared that this green had been aerated some time ago and has not come back. The rest of the greens were in exceptional condition. The day we played the pins seemed to be in tough spots (US OPEN type spots). This made the putter a cruel weapon in alot of cases. The course, however, is obviously not meant to be a push over and likewise did not disappoint. This course is usually out of my price range. With a GolfNow "hot deal" however it becomes an attractive destination.
Very Nice but not Elite.
On the same tier with Washington County, Broadlands, Morningstar, etc. Staff was great.
Fun course. Different layout than most courses. Greens are amazing.
I would rate this 4 stars out of 5. Course was in very good shape, except some of the greeens had some scuff marks, but overall I would definitely go back.
Great course but the bunkers
I really enjoyed playing at Fire Ridge, it was my 2nd time in 2 years. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars was the condition of the sand traps. They were rock hard, and most of them actually had some rocks in them. Didnt need to rake them after hitting your shot. Other than that, a great course to play. Just be good enough to keep your ball out of the bunkers and it is a 5 star play
The course was in great shape. Greens were fast. Awesome place t o play. Stay away from the blue tees, extremely difficult.
I truly enjoyed the course, the staff was excellent.
I found a great deal on Golfnow, which made my decision to Golf Fire Ridge easy. I hadn't played there in years. GOLFNOW made this possible. Thanks
Uptight!!!!
From the Clubhouse to the beer cart. Every employee and reg/house golfer there need to chill out and stop acting like there at some up-scale TPC course. Made us feel really out of place for decent course and a clubhouse that seems to be on its way down. On this plus side the starter was very friendly and it was ice of them to recently add some generious tee boxes on a tuff course for the wife.
This coarse gives you everything!
This coarse has water it has bunkers it has blind shots....it also has scenic excitement!! A true must play!
Nice course - nice layout
Course was in good condition, despite rain earlier in the day. Course drains well. Bunkers were well-groomed. Pins were in tough positions the day we played. Nice layout, good variety of hazards. Fairways are in great shape. We would (and will) go back again.
Good experience
Course was in decent shape a little dry. Greens in good shape. Challenging course for middle handicappers. On course beverage staff was good and attentative. Would definitely come back again.
Excellent!
Wow, what a course. A good mix of links style holes and many holes providing water, woods, and hills. Some tricky hole layouts and fast, undulating greens make for a good challenge. I could play here any day of the week and leave satisfied.
Course is in great shape - 5/6/13
Fire Ridge is in great shape for it being early in the year. Some greens were a little bumpy but the fairways were green and clean as can be. And for $44...can't beat it.
Bad
Course was in fair to poor shape, maybe because of the bad spring. Greens were terrible with many dead spots. Looks like all the repaired divots from last year died. Not expected from this course.
not bad for November
Great rate for late fall golf. would love to play in the summer since it plays so hard right now.
Get out and enjoy this course if you can. It is worth it.
great course plenty of challange and forgivness for my golf gamme
excellent course played in early november for the first time. looking foward to playing in summer conditions in 2012. Got tips from jason in the club house before going out for the first time on the course. much appreciated
Poor Condition
I have played at this course since it originally opened as CCW and this was by far the worse condition I have seen. The greens were quite poor and the tee boxes often beat up. The greens had many large ball marks, dead/bare areas and multiple grass varieties.
In addition, one of the maintenance guys swore at me for hitting into him while he was cutting the fairway. First, my ball landed roughly 100 yards from him and second, even if I do take some fault for this he handled it very poorly.
I won't be back until I know the condition is better.
good course little pricey
When I was there the fairways were in great shape.Greens were just aerated, so could not really comment on them. You must be on right part of green, because greens very fast and expect alot of 3 putts, if not more. Not a lot of flat putts here. The one par 3 on back looked like it had some kind of disease, but overall had a great time, but maybe a little overpriced for this course
Beautiful course but greens overplayed and poor shape.
We loved this course, even though the greens were bumpy from being overplayed. Very scenic. Fair course for women, too.
