St. Croix National Golf Club
About
St. Croix National Golf Course is a championship course that is tucked away amongst rolling, wooded hills. This scenic course is one of western Wisconsin's hidden gems. The undulating landscape covered with mature trees can seem intimidating but the layout was designed with spacious fairways and bailout areas that act as an excellent balance to the more challenging elements. The well conditioned greens putt fast and true, acting as a perfect complement to the beautiful scenery. There are strategically placed bunkers and water hazards coming into play but it is the topography will truly test your accuracy as well as a variety of other skills. St. Croix National G.C. also boasts a driving range perched high above a valley that collects the practice shots. It is the perfect preparation for the challenges of the golf course.

Up and Down
Extremely hilly course. Too many hills for my and my golf partner's liking. Very scenic, which is the main reason I'd recommend this course, if someone really wanted to go. On one hole, the green was so elevated (I think it was 11), after hitting a decent distance drive into the middle of the fairway, I faced an approach shot of 181 yards and at least 70 yards up. I had no club in my bag for which to hit that shot. Had to layup and chip. Also, the greens had just been aerated and were the worst I've putted on all year, even having played on other courses that had just done the same. SUPER slow, incredibly bumpy and sandy. Finally, on a few of the tee boxes, we couldn't find a level spot (personally hate that) and those that required irons off the tee, completely ripped up. Yuck. Will not return.
Fall flavor
As always saint croix national was the bomb! Great condition even though the fall dressing of tee boxes and greens has taken place the staff are great and we always fell welcome when we play here. One of favorite courses near the metro
Be ready for a challenge
This is a very fun and challenging course. Did not know what to expect but heard many good things about the course and the challenging shots it brings! If you have not had the chance to play, I would highly recommend trying to make it happen.
Fun but Big Challenge
There are some really cool elevations changes and memorable holes, with really good conditions. However the course is very difficult and many shots missing the green by a yard or two bounded into the deep grass or woods more than average. There seems to be a lot of blind tees shots, so it was hard to determine where the group in front was at. Fun to play once or twice a year. I will add, it was annoying that the golf cart GPS screen had constant advertisements and spent a lot of time tapping out to get to the hole yardage.
Fun & scenic
Love the elevation. Get to use your math. Pretty course
Beautiful course
We had a great time playing this course even though the weather didn't cooperate for the first few holes. The course dried out quickly and the staff was very helpful in rescheduling our tee time to a dryer time. This course is amazing with the elevation changes and blind approach shots. Definitely need to ride the brakes on the carts with the sloping cart paths. We will definitely be back!
Beautiful
Great course! The scenery is the best in the metro area. With that said it’s extremely hilly so a challenging course.
Bring extra balls
That was one of the hardest courses I’ve ever played. The course is perfect for reminding you why you’re not on tour. Somehow this course has every aspect of the game. Fescue, actual rough, seemingly welcoming fairways, water, and elevation. If you wanna just come out and smack some balls around, pick a new course. This course will challenge you to actually think about each shot. The greens are large, but they are fast. Bring extra balls.
New Favorite Course
I have found my new favorite course within driving distance of the Twin Cities. Played today for the first time. The elevation changes and scenery were incredible. It challenged different aspects of your game on different holes and made every hole fun to play. I will come back for sure and bring others with me.
UP & Down
This course is built on a former ski area. LOTS of blind shots!! Sloping fairways and elevated greens are the norm. Tee boxes were rather beat up.
If you are looking to play a challenging, really, really, tough golf course, play this one! I never had a flat lie the entire round...Course is in spectacular condition...Staff was very friendly and accomodating...I would recommend this course to everyone under a 10 handicap...Truly enjoyed this course...Pace of play very good, considering difficulty...Keep it down the middle!!!
Fun day
Ended up playing 36. Got done went back into shop and they had no problem squeezing us in for another 18. Some quirky holes but overall a fantastic experience! Highly recommend!! Conditions were fantastic, I can deal with a few tee boxes that aren’t 100percent level!!
Fun, challenging but a bit quirky
The course is well maintained, pretty and the greens a great. Lots of elevation changes, blind approaches and narrow areas to make it challenging. Be prepared to lose a few balls if you spray a few. My only real complaint is with the tee boxes. They were in poor shape and not level. They will create a draw or cut situation without even swinging the club.
Brought the boss out
Another great day at the course play was great staff as always are top notch.
A must play!!!!
Being from Myrtle Beach, golf central, I have played many different types of golf courses. I have played courses in North Carolina, Florida, New York, Connecticut, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. I have never played a course quite like this! First, I have to start with the man in the pro shop. Feel bad I forgot his name, but he was super friendly and told me what to look out for on the course. He did say it is a very challenging course. He was correct! I normally shoot in between 92-105. So I am not a really good player, but have been around golf for a long time and this is a playable course for all!! If you are a true beginner I would probably wait on this one. I felt challenged because of the severe slopes and elevation changes. I don’t practice much of that because I am normally on very flat surfaces. You will feel like you are almost playing a round in West Virginia...it’s that steep!! Needless to say I enjoyed every shot!!! The greens where fast and pure! The pace of play was perfect! The GPS on carts was perfect for blind shots. The only thing I was scared of is the very steep downhill rides in the cart. You’ll learn it quick on the first hole. You have to be careful while driving.
I’ve seen the reviews about it being gimmicky and just have to disagree. It’s a the most creative and beautiful landscape I’ve ever seen!!! Love it so much I’m playing again later in the week.
