The BOG
About
The Bog in Saukville has consistently been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Wisconsin. At 7,110 yards from the back tees, it is a course that will test both your distance and accuracy. The course takes no time in introducing its challenges. It opens with an uphill par 5 that requires a straight tee shot in order to avoid the bunkers that line both sides of the fairway. There are also at least 12 bunkers within 100 yards of the greens just waiting to swallow up errant shots. The golf course also provides a scenic round with mature trees and lush landscaping enclosing most of the holes. It can be a tough test but different sets of tees make it more approachable. The Bog is also a popular place for its practice facility, which includes a driving range and short game area.

Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Wisconsin (2015 #11)
Reviews
It's in our top five within an hour's drive
Great course and great shape. Fun yet challenging. Arnold Palmer design so a bit pricey. A must play if your on a golf trip to southeastern Wisconsin.
What a Beautiful Place
I had hoped to eventually get to The Bog and I am glad that I did. The course was in wonderful shape and the facilities were beautiful. I was playing as part of a pair and we were paired with another twosome who were very helpful giving up some tips on some of the holes. Very well kept practice area.
Great Friday Afternoon
As always this course is in great shape. If you like lightening fast greens you will like these.
It's a treat to play The Bog
It's a bit of a drive for me, and an early tee time meant being out the door early, but it was worth it. The people were friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the golf was great. Fair golf holes made playing fun. The rough was cut short, but it was thick and the ball settled down. The fairways were pristine. I recommend the fairways.
Playing blind
First tee shot is blind, the start of many blind shots. Why is there no sand in the bunkers? No maps or pictures of the hole in front of you on tee markers. You are expected to look at the tiny picture on the scorecard to navigate the numerous blind shots, Correct these significant flaws and you have a 5 star course.
Nice course......needs a little work.
Super fairways and great greens. Layout is fun and challenging. Pace of play was fine. Only negatives are the bunkers need a lot of work, and the lack of a gps in the cart. Other than that a great course.
Great layout! plenty of blind shots, bunkers, and carries.
First time playing the course. Reminds me of South Carolina courses, specifically Kiawah (oak point, osprey point). A challenging but gorgeous course. One of the best courses around Milwaukee.
Challenging, a must play.
The Bog requires that you are on your game. Not only distance and direction, but strategic placement of your tee shot and approach shot. You can get into trouble easy. The greens are very fast and hilly and well protected by multiple bunkers. One of the most difficult courses I've ever played.
RATHER GO TO WORK
FOR THE BOG IN WHICH WE PAYED $84.00 PER ROUND FOR A DISCOUNTED RATE TO CHARGE EVEN CLOSE TO THAT AND NOT HAVE A GPS ON THE CART FOR YARDAGE IS RIDICULOUS IN THIS DAY AND AGE. THEY HAVE AN APP THAT YOU CAN DOWNLOAD AND HAVE TO SCREW AROUND WITH YOUR PHONE BUT THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE. THE GREENS NEED TO BE REDONE AS I DON'T THINK THEY CUT THEM ANYMORE THEY USE A STEAMROLLER AND THE SAND TRAPS ARE SANDBOX SAND WHICH ARE ALSO STEAMROLLED AND NEVER MAINTAINED. GO PLAY 2 ROUNDS AT A COUNTY COURSE INSTEAD.
Great course
Having recently moved here from Southern California we've been "trying out" courses each weekend. So far this is our favorite. It's an enjoyable course with challenges. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We will return.
green great shape , true
course in great shape very friendly staff, and cordial,
The Bog is very challenging.
The Bog is a beautiful, challenging course. The course conditions are excellent. The course is visually intimidating but fair. The Bog has a variety of holes and many different tee boxes to accommodate golfers of any skill level.
Not what it used to be...
Hadn't played here in a couple years, is one I've always looked forward to playing because of green conditions (best in S.E. WI) and challenging, very beautiful course...was shocked to see how far the conditioning had fallen off. I understand the bunkers being prepped for the upcoming State Open but what had been a pristine beautifully maintained course looked very rough and ragged throughout. Some of the greens were in terrible shape (#17 in particular) compared to recent past history. The range was unbelievable.
While I'm thrilled to be able to get on courses easily and pay discounted greens fees now compared to years ago, the downside to the changes in the golf industry are playing once delightful courses that are now only shadows of themselves....
Pristine Conditions
Would play again, great shape! Some blind shots, but a lot of fun.
Solid layout - good option between Milwaukee and Kohler
Three of us played around 4:00 PM Friday on our way to Kohler. Booked for $75 each via GolfNow. Very nice layout, good mix of interesting holes. A few blind shots, but nothing too penal. Perhaps it's intentional, but a few bunkers could use some maintenance. Wet day, so carts had to stay on paths. We weren't told at check-in that the halfway house would be closed when we made the turn around 6:00 PM. Good value for what we paid. Rack rate seems high
At least there is a practice area?
The practice area is better than any county course but it is quite obvious this is where they are cutting costs... but its included so eh... Course is great I will play it again.
Great Golf Course
This is a great golf course, can be very challenging but very fun. There are some hidden hazards to watch out for the first time through, but nothing I would call 'unfair'. (except maybe the 18th green... that was an extremely fast green and tough to hold, and keep a putt near the hole.. although when I played it, it was about 100 degrees outside..
A lot of blind shots
Play a bit slow many holes have blind landing areas. Without local knowledge almost impossible to figure out how to play. Hidden hazards and imprecise distance help makes for very tricked up holes.
