Beautiful Course
Outstanding course, impeccably maintained, can't wait to get back and play again!
Another great experience at St Germain Golf Club
Scheduled an early morning round and only had time for 9 holes this trip so hence the $/round number would have been higher for 18. Greeted warmly by the cart attendant. The counter staff was just getting started but very accommodating. Hit a few warmup balls on the super convenient range and practice green. chatted with the starter briefly and then teed off right on time or maybe even a bit early. This is a very nice layout and I would say probably the best municipal course I have ever played. A couple thin spots on the sides (I know - don't hit it there) but fairways were really good and clipped tight. We were among the first groups off so greens were not yet mowed and very dewy and thus pretty slow - a trade off for wanting to play so early. Also, certainly not the courses fault, there were deer hoof marks across many of the greens but it was simple to fix the one print that was in my path that one time - that one would be a Northwoods trade off. As a cautionary note the woods are pretty thick so if you tend to spray you should come prepared - however you might also find a fair amount of lost balls if you go looking so that is potentially a bonus.
This is an absolutely beautiful course with a pretty and challenging layout. I rate this highly and try to play every year when I am up in that area. You should ,too!
North woods golf
First time playing course. Slow play because of league (not women’s). Back nine 9 narrow. Overall liked the course.
Lovely Northwoods track!
Friendly staff, great layout and in great condition. Played 36 here for our annual golf trip and would gladly come.
Best Golf Experience in the Northwoods
Course is in great condition, greens putt true, and staff is awesome. Have a great halfway house and a beverage cart. Definitely will be my go to course during future trips to Northwoods. This is the place you want to play, without hesitation.
Aways fun to play
Great course design. Very good conditions, consistently. Starter very friendly and humorous. We had a young family member playing with us and the on-course Ranger showed up at a hole and gave him some golf balls. .Made the kids days. We play this course a couple times a season and love it. Two comments for improvement. 1] Needs a 19th hole! (I can guess why there isn't one.) 2] Yardage marking is poor. Players can make better decisions with more consistent markings. The 200/150/100 markings are faded out and tough to spot. Sprinkler heads so-so. Even just a visible 150 stake would be helpful. GPS carts would be amazing! But I'm sure expensive. Just suggestions not complaints.
One of our favs!!
We live in Appleton, WI and have a cottage in Manitowish waters. We make it a priority to play here 1x a year! We always get paired up with such fantastic people but this year, we were paired with truly 2 of the best! 81 year old Marge and 84 year old Roy! Sooooo much fun! Marge is legit!!! Can’t wait to be back next year! And hope that we pick the same day as Marge and Roy!!
Eightsome's Shouldn't Be Allowed
Play was quite slow due to a foursome in front of us. They left at the turn, but then we caught up to an eight-some on the back nine, two foursome's apparently playing some sort of best ball. Two onesome's playing behind our twosome caught up to us and joined us. That's how slow it was. This shouldn't be allowed. Also, price at this course used to be reasonable until they jacked it up a couple years ago. Not worth the money any more.
Nicely maintained and designed course
Only suggestion is ice being made available for drinks bought to take on cart.
Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.
