Beautiful course

It’s a beautiful course in the middle of nowhere. Such good views. The greens are getting better every time we come back.

Wisconsin Golf

Great week of golf in Wisconsin. Finished at Devils Head Resort. Course was very nice layout. Two greens were in bad shape, the other 16 were nice. Tee boxes needed work, most were un-mowed or not seeded. Fairways were great. "Club House" was very Spartan, very little in the way of merchandise.

Dreadful course

I happened to be staying in the region and booked a morning tee time on their Glacier course, they have two courses the other being the prairie. I can’t begin to tell you how atrocious this course was. Most of the bunkers are literal disaster zones, as are many of the greens. The fairways are average and I’ll defined at best and most of the tee boxes are caked in mud. There are many blind tee shots but zero directional markers, yardage markers are inconsistent and the golf carts in a dilapidated state. My cart’s tires were so threadbare my cart had no forward traction on hills. I would therefore have to roll backwards and get back to the rutted cart path. No clubhouse just a small shack selling a few beers and soft drinks. Apparently there is a pro shop and restaurant but it’s nowhere near the course or first tees or cart pickup. The distance from the 4th green to the 5th tee is about half a mile and I’m not exaggerating, if you were walking you would need to catch a bus. I got lost missing the direction sign that was laying horizontal in a bush. All of this is bad enough but the worst is they charge $69 for this experience, the course isn’t worth $19. I have contacted the club asking for a refund or at least a partial one and they haven’t even had the curtesy of a response. Needless to say I recommend avoiding this course.

Great Layout, maintenance problem

I played 18 yesterday and loved the layout. It was challenging but not gimmicky. The course has obvious maintenance problems but I still would recommend it

Winchell’s

Directions not always clear. I got turned around and was playing the wrong holes so couldn’t’t keep score properly.I’ll bring someone with me, if I come back - it’s an hour drive for me.

Terrible course never go there.

This place sucked. The pictures Lure you into thinking it is a sweet track but when we went it was a huge mistake. They should have paid us to come play there. Tee boxes in horrific condition. Basically hitting off dirt or sand. Greens were like putting on the fairway. The fact that there was not a soul there was a testament that the place wasn’t good. When we got there we were the only ones in the parking lot. Weren’t even sure it was open. Shows that if you make the mistake of playing there your never going back. Don’t recommend.

Played Glacier, not Prairie.

I signed up to play Prairie, but was notified by GN that there was a large group teeing off around the same time as me, so I was switched to the Glacier course. I was happy because the Glacier course is the most picturesque out of the two. The sand traps I encountered were basically ground under repair. No sand, just dirt, rocks, and the occasional pond. I heard they may be waiting on liners to redo them? The fairways and greens were well maintained. The tee boxes were very dry and hard, it was extremely difficult to put a tee in. Overall, I would play here again. I love the layout and the challenges that the course has. Just know that you don’t pass the clubhouse after hole 9, so plan your snacks/beverages accordingly.

Lots of Prairie at Prairie Glen

Prairie Glen is a nice alternative to the other course at Devils Head. It is more open pretty short but in good condition. The par 4 3rd straight up hill is a cool but super tight hole. The front goes in the woods then out in the Prairie the back winds back in forth in the prairie with lots of fescue. The was a great short par 4 with a cool island green.

Nice place great food in the Devil's Den. Check it out.

Beautiful views and country side. If don’t care about green, bunker or manicure of a course go for it.
If serious golfer not for you but fun resort course.

Some greens pretty rough

I play this course every year multiple times. I love the views. Some of the greens are literally sand mixed with tufts of grass. Very disappointing. I do enjoy the course but no reward for excellent iron play when greens are so bad. Some tee boxes all sand too.
