Could be really good
The course has a good traditional old country club feel. The views are very nice. Rolling hills and in a nice rural setting. The course carries the skeletons of the grounds crew. The grass clippings in the rough are obvious, there are several stumps that could be removed or cut closer to the ground.
18 holes and each of them are nicely laid out. No goofy or un-needed gimmicks The terrain is rolling on all par 4 and 5’s. Large greens but, they are slow!! They do roll true.
The waits on tee boxes did grow old. I played on a Thursday morning and I had to wait on each box after the first hole.
The value is excellent and course is worth a visit.
Horrible
Got a time and deal then showed up BEFORE my tee time and told your gonna play with 3 others. Well didn't know that but ok they stick you with others without notice, don't know about that. But play was horrible, I get stuck with 3 people but they allow a single walking golfer ahead of us and a group of 8 who were drunk and all hit the ball 100 yards in the wrong direction. Took 5 hours to play 17 I had to skip 1 to get with the group with teed off before me, nice. Could be run better so I'll skip Merrill in the future.
Good course layout, good playing conditions
Overall, it's a fun course to play. Greens were excellent. Fairways were pretty good. Pace of play was a bit slow. Seems like there are a lot of bad golfers out there today
Sand traps need to be improved. At least rake them once a day.
Nice course...bad experience
I've played this course on average 2-3 times per summer. I enjoy the layout, conditions, and challenge of this rural course. Today however we experienced a first. First of all , my tee time which I made through Tee Off was not in their books. Fortunately I had my confirmation email. The real problem was the pace of play. A youth lessons program was taking place and a half hour into our round the kids were sent out onto the course shot gun style. This slowed things down, but I'm ok with introducing the game to new young players. We also thought they would only play a few holes...which they did. The 5some of men in front of us who we caught up to on hole 9 was the reason our 18 hole round lasted almost 5 hours. We had to wait on every tee box and on most approach shots. Our 4some was followed by a 3some who were right on our tail due to our necessary waiting. Frustrating! Fortunately great weather all day.
