Bridges Golf Course
About
Bridges Golf Course is a municipal, 18-hole course that sits on the northeastern side of Madison, just south of the airport. It’s popular with locals since it’s both affordable and challenging. The layout starts out on low-lying wetlands and then on the back nine it climbs up a ridge along Anderson Avenue. For a championship golf course it’s not particularly long at 6,900 yards from the back tees, but golfers will still face several tricky holes. Players of all skill levels will enjoy Bridges Golf Course for its variety of risk-reward opportunities. It’s not terribly punishing though so beginners can approach it with confidence. In addition to the golf course, Bridges offers a practice facility that includes a driving range and two separate practice greens for chipping and putting.

super deal
great deal through golf now. great course well maintaind. got there early did 18 in under 3 hrs.
Great value
The course is in great shape. Nice practice area, range, sand bunker, green. New charts. Super value.
Nice golf course
Fairways and greens were in good shape. There were a few spots where you could teller water collects and grass had died. Greens were a little on the slow side. Cart paths are gravel, so if following another cart, you eat a little dust.
Very Challenging Track
This course was very tight with no room for slicers or hookers. There was trouble on all sides of each fairway and you needed to be a straight hitter. The greens were in excellent condition and putted wonderfully. I would recommend this to others as a great course to play. You thought you were the only player on the course, all holes were secluded. Great place to play.
Great course, pretty tough
I'm not the straightest hitter and this course is surrounded by thick brush, keep it in play and it's very fun, if not you're going to lose a lot of balls. Nice fairways tee boxes and greens though one of the par 3s has construction going on. Very nice.
Great Deal
My friends and I had a great day at Bridges. The course was challenging for each of us in different ways. There were plenty of opportunities for the big hitter and the touch golfer.
Great golf for those looking to maximize their utility
While the course is close to the airport and main roads, Bridges makes up for that with a well-cared for course and an even better price. A few challenging holes paired with tall weeds make for a fun course that rewards you greatly if you can keep drives moderately on target. Bring the mosquito repellent!
Great Value
The course has a fun layout and multiple tees for different skill levels. The course is very well maintained and very green early in the year. Bunkers are the one downfall of this course as they aren't very good. Other than that the course is very fun to play.
Lots of Water and Marsh here.
Had this Course pegged for this year with my golf buddy who's also a Dave like me. I Am 48, and Dave's 27. We are 10 HDC's Literally, We played the Blues at little over 6,800 Yards, How ironic, As the Blues at The Bull In Sheboygan are The same yardage. He Holed out with a 81, and I an 82. This course is a course management course to me, Is Pretty flat for the most part. A couple elevation changes holes, like 13 And 15 I believe give you a different look. But this course makes you play straight. If you don't bring around two dozen balls, because if you go out of play consider your ball lost literally. We both thought this course layout was awesome. YOU will see tons of planes from Madison Airport fly right over you all day here. We found the conditions to be very pleasant here. Nice 2 cut fairways, and the greens surprised me, in nice shape average roll to them, and fairly large size. And YOU will see why they call this he Bridges, Yes so many to cross all round long. We got out early on A Sunday around 8:30am just a two sum, and motored around it at very pleasant pace. Again bring your straight game here or you will be scoring in triple digits. We both lost just 2 balls, this is no Links course my fellow golfers. Tons of water and thick brush and marsh line almost 95 % of this course. We had a great round and enjoyed the Bridges. Thumbs Up from both of us.
First Time Out for 2015
It was great swinging the clubs, of course. But the ground was literally oozing water and mud...to be expected as the ground is thawing out. Not having any ball washers out was a bummer...greens were pretty slow but I know things will improve as the sun starts warming things up!
All of the airplanes flying overhead (next to an airport), brought to mind visions of Harrison Ford crash landing...maybe that's why I kept picking up my head?
Birdie or CARP?
We played at the course yesterday around 8:15. The staff was somewhat friendly. The course overall was in dire need of maintenance. It looks like they have just let it go for the fall season. A major turnoff for my was the smell of dead carp. They were just floating in the ponds. We got to hole 14 and there was a dead carp up by the green. The fairways on the back were muddy from the holes they plugged. Overall I would give it a C- and that is weighted almost entirely on the price we paid. Probably would go back, but not this season.
Short but challenging
If you slice or don't hit straight bring extra balls because the course is tight.
convenient, but...
Bridges' biggest asset is their location, right in town. And given that, it is surprising scenic and has a lot of wildlife, quite common to see deer, mink, cranes, and other wildlife on the course. The course was built in a swamp and has a low water table, so it is floods badly when heavy rains occur, that is a real challenge for the greenskeeper. Right now (played August 13) it is in excellent condition, the fairways and greens are choice. This spring, it was in horrible shape due to residual effects of flooding.
The course layout is not very popular. It is uncommonly tight, with water, marsh and hazards everywhere. There are very few holes where you can miss a shot by much and recover your ball. This leads to many lost balls and can adversely affect pace of play. They have continually tried to expand the landing areas and clean up some of the high weeds, but there is only so much you can do, given where the course was built. There are many interesting holes, #8 is a very scenic par 3 which makes it hard to believe you are right in the city. #15 is a beautiful but quite challenging par 5. They have 5 sets of tees and the longer ones are very challenging given all the hazards. The red tees are extremely short and makes the course quite appealing to women golfers. The greens are not generally huge but many pin positions are tricky.
The facilities, clubhouse, food and atmosphere are pretty decent. Depending on the runways in use the day you play, you can have low flying planes going by constantly, but most people don't seem to mind. Their prices are high, this year they reduced their rate to $32 to walk 18 on weekends, which is still above average for this area and not a good value in my opinion. Like everybody else they are offering various discounts to attract more players, and they run many outings and tournament events. Overall I don't go out of my way to play here, there are better options in the area, but you will save money on gas if you live in Madison.
Good course in a wetland setting.
Beautiful wetland setting with many challenging holes from the back tees. I am from out of town and always take time to play Bridges when in Madison. A great value for a course that is always in fine shape. A lot tougher than the modest rating/slope. Good place.
Great course
Had a great time with friends and the course was in the best shape I've seen it in a long time.
Course
Course in good shape.
Ranger allowed a 6-some to play in front of the group before us. Terrible management of the pace of play on the course.
Fun Course
Fun, playable course in nice condition! Lots of hazards. Can be a ball eater.
Needs a little work
It has the potential to be a great course, but seems to be suffering from a bit of neglect. We played only the front nine, which had some barren spots on the fairways, and seemed just in need of a little care. Some folks have said that the back nine really has suffered because of Spring flooding. It's really an interesting layout, and could be great.
OK
Course in good shape.
Starter allowed 5-some (only 3 people had clubs) in front of our group!! Poor management :-(
