With courses designed by Lee Trevino, Gary Player and Arnold Palmer, Geneva National is the second-largest golf facility in the state. The Player Course is the most fun to play. There are three nine-hole courses at Evergreen Golf Club, which has been a local favorite since opening the North-South nines in 1973. While Evergreen isn't a trophy course, it probably has a more "bang for your buck" quotient and you have a better chance to shoot a number. The Wisconsin Dells area has been known to residents of the upper Midwest as a great summer vacation destination for ages. Oddly, though, The Dells does not have much of a golfing tradition, despite the bucolic natural surroundings. Wilderness Territory Resort is out to change that. Staying at Erin Hills is like staying at a golf-obsessed bed-and-breakfast, only you're not stuck in the house of an old couple attempting awkward conversation. Instead, you're with a hip staff that includes a chef who churns out tender ribs in a whiskey sauce, and a blonde bartender sworn to keeping drinks and laughs flowing. You can see why no one would be in a rush to leave Erin Hills.

Brown Deer Golf Club is the Milwaukee muni where the U.S. Bank Championship is held every year and where Tiger Woods made his pro debut. But you'd want to play Brown Deer if only Earl Smith and his cousin Egor had hit shots here. This is a true democratic golf course, from price to the skill-level required to play it.
